It is common to put on a few pounds over the winter months, especially during the holidays. It is also cold outside which makes it more difficult to exercise. If this has happened to you and you want to lose the weight to get your body ready for those summer shorts and bathing suits, below are three tips to help you do this so you will be ready.

Emotional Freedom Technique

Another way to help you lose weight is to use the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). You will also hear this referred to as tapping. Tapping is restoring the balance of your body's energy to help with negative thoughts and feelings, as well as physical symptoms.

The tapping technique is focusing on your negative thoughts, which may be anxiety or fear, an unresolved problem, bad memory, or more. As you are focusing your focus on the issue you are having, your fingers tap approximately five to 10 times on the meridian points in your body. This is like tapping into your body's energy source and circulating the energy throughout your body. Tapping works much like acupuncture except you use your fingers instead of needles.

Tapping can also help with weight loss. This is because if you have anxiety, depression, or other emotional problem you are more likely to overeat. Tapping makes you feel better, so this reduces the chances of you over eating, as well as craving food.

Low-carb Diet

A low-carb diet can help you lose weight, but it also helps to lower your cholesterol, blood pressure, and reduces the chances of heart disease. Carbohydrates provide your body with energy, but they also store fat in your body. Because of this you do need some carbs in your diet just not a high amount of them.

There are many low-carb diets available to help you. These diets will have foods that are low in carbs that you can eat. A few of these foods include:

  • Most meats, such as pork, chicken, and fish
  • Spinach
  • Celery
  • Watermelon
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Green beans
  • Eggs
  • Walnuts

Foods that contain a lot of sugar are high in carbs. Pastas, grains, and breads are also high in carbs no matter if these things are whole wheat or white. Salad dressings, starchy vegetables, milk, alcoholic drinks, and more are also high in carbs.

Talk with your doctor before you start any weight loss program to ensure it is healthy for you to do so. For more information about EFT for weight loss, reach out to your primary care physician.
