Essential oils are a natural approach to healing many different ailments. You might use lavender for burns, or rub some peppermint on your chest when you have a cold. These are great applications for essential oils, but some oils from places like also have the power to help your mood and your mind.   • cedar wood. One study showed that cedar wood oil had a profound effect on those who struggle with ADHD. It naturally helps to bring calmness and relieve anxiety, allowing your to approach focused tasks with a relaxed and ready mind.


Everybody feels down every once in a while, but those who struggle with feelings of depression on daily basis should add essential oils to their treatment plan. Some oils really do have the ability to boost the mood and level out some chemical and hormone imbalances.

One of the best oils for depression is rose oil. Rose oil is one of the hardest oils to extract, because roses aren't naturally oily, but it is also one of the powerful healing oils. One study showed that rose oil decreased levels of postpartum depression in women, and it also helped to control symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder.

Another oil that is especially effective in improving mood is bergamot. Bergamot works as a natural antidepressant, as it improves circulation and helps to restore your blood sugar levels and metabolic rates. The citrus-like smell helps to create a feeling of energy and joy. 


Keeping your temper under control can be difficult, but it can be made less tough when you enlist the help of essential oils. Ylang ylang is often used to help curb feelings of anger. In fact, it is the most effective oil for controlling your blood pressure and calming the nerves-- so much so that many natural sleep aids include ylang ylang as an ingredient. In order to reap the benefits of this oil, all you have to do is inhale. Some oils have to be taken in a capsule to be effective, but ylang ylang is so powerfully calming that just smelling it will reduce your blood pressure.

Other oils that can be effective for anger management are ones that reduce muscle tension and pain. These include, but are not limited to, lavender, wintergreen, roman chamomile, and jasmine.

You can use essential oils for more than runny noses and the occasional bruise. Diffusing essential oils can really affect your mood and emotional well-being.
